A Site With History

Seventy years on, the heart of Cambrian is ready to beat again.

Originally built in the 1950s as a sprawling strip mall surrounded by parking lots, Cambrian Park Plaza was innovative for its time — and the hub of the area for decades. The 70+ year old site has since declined, under-developed and no longer meeting modern community needs.

Six Years In The Making

Built hand-in-hand with the community.

For more than six years, we worked alongside neighbors and the City to shape a unique village plan — one that delivers much-needed housing, including for seniors, four acres of public open space, and a new commercial center for generations to come.

In August 2022, the San Jose City Council voted unanimously to annex the property. The annexation became final October 7, 2022 — a re-imagining of this 18-acre site as a vibrant contributor to the local community.

Welcome To

Cambrian Village

A village plan designed for people — not cars. Walking promenades connect acres of public open space, a central park with an amphitheater, and a community plaza ringed by small shops, restaurants, and outdoor seating.

A Place To Live

A variety of homes for every chapter.

Small apartments above shops. Townhomes. Single-family houses with granny units. Senior assisted living and a hotel front the central park, all connected to the plaza by a pedestrian-friendly Main Street with ample underground parking below.
